Earliest Memory
It was summertime in Ballantine, Montana. I was playing outside with my sister. Mom and Dad were at work. Grandma Inez (not my grandma but might as well be) was inside watching "The Price is Right with Bob Barker". Ahh.... I miss waking up everyday to oatmeal and "The Price is Right". Anyways, me and my sister were outside on the swingset. I had just received a dog for my birthday and we named her Sadie. I was just swinging along minding my own business when Sadie suddenly swooped underneath me and took my shoe right off of my foot. She tore off across the yard and out into the alfalfa field with my sister and I hot on her heels. We were yelling and screaming at her but she just kept running. We returned home unsuccessful at capturing her. An hour or so later she came meandering back to the house where my sister and I were waiting in the tree for an ambush. Before she knew it we were on her like white on rice. BUT WAIT! She didn't have the shoe with her. After that day, shoes would always disappear from time to time and would get rediscovered by Mr. Oblander (neighboring farmer whom we leased our land to) when he came in his tractor (which I also drove with him from time to time) to bale the alfalfa. Good Ol Sadie
